Title, description, canonical

The three tags that decide how you appear in a search result.

01

Title

30 to 60 characters. Google truncates past about 60, so if your brand name is at the end nobody sees it. Put the specific thing first: "Invoice tracking for freelancers — BrandName".

Every page needs a different one.

02

Description

120 to 155 characters. This is the grey text under your link and the only sales copy you control there. Left empty, Google picks a snippet from your page — usually a navigation label or a cookie notice.

03

Canonical

Most apps are reachable at several addresses: with and without www, with and without a trailing slash, and with tracking parameters attached. A canonical tag names the real one so your ranking is not split between them.

<link rel="canonical" href="https://yourdomain.com/the-page" />

Use an absolute URL, and be consistent about www across the whole site.
